How long has it been since you’ve been to a Hootenanny? Well, we attended one Friday and Saturday nights at the Blue Frog Studios in White Rock B.C. The Lion Sons of the Kingston Trio entertained the crowds with songs from the Folk Era. Mike Marvin, Josh Reynolds, and Tim Gorelangton make up the group. Josh is the son of Kingston Trio original member, Nick Reynolds, Mike is an adopted son, and Tim is a childhood friend. All 3 grew up in a household filled with the music of the Kingston Trio. Tom Dooley, Greenback Dollar, and my favourite, Scotch and Soda were all there for the giant sing-along!
The True North Troubadours took us all back to the 60’s Folk Era tonight at the Blue Frog Studios in White Rock B.C. It was a tribute to Peter Paul and Mary, and other folk song performers. It was a night filled with harmonies, featuring Wayne and Diane Rempel, and Joel Dietrich, with Steve Labish on acoustic stand up bass. It was a Hootenanny all over again! The Blue Frog scores big time.
