It was full-on CCR at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada this weekend. The band, Bad Moon Riders paid homage to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, Creedence Clearwater Revival. Operating under strict Covid protocols, the 4 sold out shows were a real treat for CCR fans, and fans of live performances. Under the regulations, the studio was only allowed 30 patrons, not the usual 100 capacity. The setting was welcomed by the fans, and provided an intimate setting for the musicians. Mike Kelly nailed the lead vocals, you could have sworn Fogerty was there in person, and the band carried off the Swamp Rock sound of Creedence. A great weekend for live Rock and Roll in White Rock. Saturday the early show was live streaming around the world, and was seen in Texas, Alaska, Yukon, Southern California, and across Canada.

Moving in Stereo

Last Friday and Saturday nights the spotlight was turned on to the music of The Cars. Thanks to the talents of the Victoria based group, Moving in Stereo. There were 4 sold out shows at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock B.C. Blue Frog, working under the rules set out by Dr. Bonnie Henry, allowed music fans to once again enjoy a live music performance. Tables and chairs set 6 feet apart and separated by sheets of plexiglass, provided the necessary safety, and also provided an intimate atmosphere for the patrons. Moving in Stereo ran through the entire Cars catalog, in a wonderful tribute to the Hall of Fame band. All the big hits rocked on through the night.
Everyone, including the band members agreed, it’s great to have a live music venue like Blue Frog Studios!

Jim Byrnes returned to Blue Frog Studios with 6 sold out shows. Jim holds the record for most sold out shows at Blue Frog. With all the Pandemic safety measures in place Blue Frog played host to a rare event these days, live music! With only 1/3 of the audience space available, patrons were treated to a very intimate evening of music. Jim and the band ran through some old favourites, and sprinkled in some new tunes to the mix, offering an exciting and entertaining evening. Kudos to hosts Kelly and Juanita for tackling some challenging restrictions to be able to present a great night of live entertainment. Kingpins

The Kingpins took to the stage last night at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock B.C. and treated the in-studio audience and the live-streaming audience to a wonderful musical night of the Blues!! Talk about an all star lineup! Big Hank Lionhart, Jack Lavin, Steve Cross, Steve Ranta, Ross Hall and Jerry Cook brought a wealth of talent and original high energy R&B to the Blue Frog stage. Again, working with the pandemic protocol, Blue Frog could only accommodate 30 guests in the studio, but those who couldn’t get tickets, were able to enjoy the show through Live Streaming. One more Live Streaming show is coming up next Saturday, as “Ladies Sing the Blues” hits the stage. Go to bluefrogstudios.ca for more information.

Jim Byrnes and his band proved last night that Live Music Wasn’t Dead! Blue Frog Studios in White Rock B.C. was rocking in a “Socially Distancing” way as Jim played to an intimate crowd of 30 people practicing all the protocols put in place due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. Chairs and tables were spaced 2 metres/6 feet apart and the guests were required to hand sanitize before entering the building. Due to the distancing rules, instead of a studio of 100 people, there was only room for a third of that. And what a treat it was for those fans. Truly, up close and personal! The first show was streamed live around the world. The Virtually Live concert was Jim’s idea, as he said he and the band just wanted to get back to playing music in front of an audience! Something that hasn’t been happening since the pandemic hit. It was the 3 concert in a series of 5 for Blue Frog. Still to come, The Kingpins on July 11th, and Ladies Sing the Blues on July 18th. Paul Pigat/Virtually Live!

Paul Pigat kicked off the Blue Frog Virtually Live Concert Series tonight, and it was a dynamite show, albeit, without a live audience. Due to pandemic regulations, there couldn’t be the usual 100 audience members in attendance, but through live streaming the show was seen across Canada, and even to some subscribers in Ireland! Paul put on his usual great show, even though it did feel a little strange not having the studio audience feedback. It was the first in a series of Virtually Live concerts. Next up is Atlantic Crossing, a salute to the British Invasion, and July 4th will see Jim Byrnes on stage. Go to bluefrogstudios.ca for complete concert information.

A&M Grands

Take the duelling pianos format, mix in a drum track with magical effects, throw in a world class guitarist and engaging personalities, and you’ve got yourself a high energy, highly entertaining evening of music! A&M Grands is such an act. The “A” in A&M is singer/pianist Andrew Johns, and the “M” is pianist/guitarist/singer, Mick Della Vee, two outstanding musicians who entertained 3 sold out shows at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada. Taking requests from the audience, Mick and Andrew took the crowd on a musical ride that spanned decades, and had them singing along to all the hit songs! Amazing talents, and an entertaining mix of fun and music. It was a night could have gone on and on and on!

Powder Blues

They were Doin’ it Right, and Boppin’ with the Blues for 4 sold out shows at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock British Columbia this weekend! Tom Lavin and the Legendary Powder Blues band filled the Blue Frog with what they’ve been doing for 42 years….playing the Blues! It was great to see Tom again. We first met back in the early 80’s when Powder Blues was getting its start. It’s a band that has had a few personnel changes over the years, but the current lineup has been with Tom for over 30 years. Willie McCalder on keys was there at the beginning, Bill Runge on sax since 1980, And Vince Mai on trumpet, Tony Marryatt on bass, and Daryl Bennett, drums, all since 1985. The crowds loved every minute and Saturday night’s first show was streaming live over the world wide web. 20/20 Eagle Eyes

Well the boys did it again! Eagle Eyes rocked the stage at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock this holiday weekend. 7 sold out shows in 4 days! As usual they had the crowds on their feet dancing and singing along. This talented group and has over 120 years of professional touring experience, and has totally captured the harmonies of The Eagles. Jason Dunajski and Ray Harvey on guitar, Jack Gunderson, Bass, and Ken Ermter on drums, make up this talented group from Vancouver Island. The band is off to the U.S. for the next few months and into the Summer, playing Washington State, Oregon and Idaho. We’re thrilled that they make Blue Frog Studios one of the stops along the way each year. Next time they’re in town, make sure to get your tickets early, as they sell out fast.

Katie Markham/Adele

The amazing talent of Katie Markham took to the Blue Frog stage last night and performed all the classics of Adele to 2 sold out concerts. Katie has been described, by Adele herself as, brilliant, glorious, amazing and spectacular! Katie was a finalist on the X Factor in the UK and was chosen by Adele to go on and tour with her tribute act. Backed by a terrific band and backup vocalists, she took the audience on a trip through the Adele Songbook in her show titled, “Someone like you.” She had the crowd standing and singing along, not wanting the show to end. Katie and the group performed here in White Rock almost 2 years ago, and here’s hoping she won’t wait that long again to pay another visit.
