They were Doin’ it Right, and Boppin’ with the Blues for 4 sold out shows at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock British Columbia this weekend! Tom Lavin and the Legendary Powder Blues band filled the Blue Frog with what they’ve been doing for 42 years….playing the Blues! It was great to see Tom again. We first met back in the early 80’s when Powder Blues was getting its start. It’s a band that has had a few personnel changes over the years, but the current lineup has been with Tom for over 30 years. Willie McCalder on keys was there at the beginning, Bill Runge on sax since 1980, And Vince Mai on trumpet, Tony Marryatt on bass, and Daryl Bennett, drums, all since 1985. The crowds loved every minute and Saturday night’s first show was streaming live over the world wide web. If you’d like to see what you missed, the show will be repeated on Blue Frog TV on Thursday February 27th. Go to bluefrogstudios.ca and follow the prompts to Blue Frog TV.

The amazing talent of Katie Markham took to the Blue Frog stage last night and performed all the classics of Adele to 2 sold out concerts. Katie has been described, by Adele herself as, brilliant, glorious, amazing and spectacular! Katie was a finalist on the X Factor in the UK and was chosen by Adele to go on and tour with her tribute act. Backed by a terrific band and backup vocalists, she took the audience on a trip through the Adele Songbook in her show titled, “Someone like you.” She had the crowd standing and singing along, not wanting the show to end. Katie and the group performed here in White Rock almost 2 years ago, and here’s hoping she won’t wait that long again to pay another visit.

Another sold out crowd at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada tonight, to see the guitar virtuoso Johnny A.
who has played prestigious festivals like Eric Clapton’s Crossroads, the Montreal Jazz Festival, and Tokyo’s Fuji Rock Festival.
He’s a Boston Hall of Fame inductee, and a Gibson, Epiphone signature guitarist. Johnny is on a once a year west coast tour, playing only 10 dates, and it’s his first visit to Vancouver, and White Rock, and the crowd was knocked out at his amazing talent. The Genius of Ray Charles came alive tonight, at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock British Columbia, Canada, thanks to Mike Henry, and his Soul Explosion Band.
Mike Henry has performed in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand, in Atlantic City, Lake Tahoe, through Southeast Asia and the Middle East. It was a Kalimba weekend at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada. This past Summer, the high energy group had 3500 people dancing in the streets during the Concerts for the Pier series. We brought the show inside this weekend, and for the late show on Saturday, took away all the seats and created a dance party that rocked into the night. Kalimba celebrates the music and spirit of Earth, Wind and Fire, and because we’re into the season, threw in some Christmas tunes with a funky beat. Kalimba plays all up and down the West Coast, and we were fortunate to have the band make a stop in White Rock.
It was a very very Valdy night at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada as Valdy returned to the Blue Frog stage. Blue Frog was packed once again for this Canadian troubadour, and the crowd loved every minute. The songs, the stories, the singalongs, they were all there. Judging by his tour schedule, Valdy seems to be on the road most of the year. He has fans across the country, in the U.S., Europe, Australia and New Zealand. He is truly a Canadian Ambassador. Check out his webpage for his tour schedule, and if he’s coming to a town near you, don’t miss the opportunity to see this National Treasure. Valdy, not to be missed.
