Jim put on his usual great show, even fighting a bad cough and cold. He gave the crowd what they came to see and hear. Great stories and great music as only Jim can do. Backed by Jeff Hicks on drums, and Rob Booker on Bass, they were joined by Simon Kendall on keys. Simon was once a member of Doug and the Slugs! With Jim on guitar, it was a great sound. Jim has a new CD out, it was released in November of last year titled, “Long Hot Summer Days” It was a great night, and the packed house went home more than happy following a standing ovation!
Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne took to the stage at Blue Frog Studios tonight, and gave the sell out crowd what they came to see and hear….Boogie Woogie Blues, and a lot more. features 5 talented singers, Joani Bye, Alita Dupray, Nadine States, Leslie Harris and Amanda Dean, backed by Rob Montgomery and an All-Star Band. It just so happened it was Rob’s birthday yesterday, and the ladies presented Rob with a birthday cake in the shape of an electric guitar, designed and baked by Amanda Dean! Just got back from Monterrey, Mexico. Made the quick trip to see our daughter, who’s there attending University. Talk about the real Mexico! It’s not really a “tourist” town, Like P.V. or Cabo, so there is no need for much English to be spoken, but it has a wonderful mix of new architecture and old world charm. Monterrey is the largest city in the state of Nuevo Leon. It’s in northeast Mexico, at the foothills of the Sierra Madre Oriental. Monterrey is the 9 largest city in Mexico, and the 3rd largest in terms of population. It’s also home to a number of very large National and International corporations. We flew from Vancouver to Mexico City, then on to Monterrey with AeroMexico, and enjoyed wonderful friendly service. Our daughter had a sightseeing schedule all ready for us, which took us hiking in the mountains, and walking tours throughout the city. Monterrey enjoys a number of festivals and pop up markets, as well as regular flea markets. The food was very traditional, and transportation via Uber was very fast, and very inexpensive. It was a wonderful trip, and we really enjoyed the friendly, hospitable people.
