Mr. Boogie Woogie
It was another fabulous night at the Blue Frog Studios in White Rock B.C. tonight. Dutch performer, Mr. Boogie Woogie hit it out of the park with his high energy show. Backed by Rob Montgomery’s band, Mr. Boogie Woogie aka Erik Jan Overbeek, put on an amazing display of how you play Boogie Woogie!! It was a sold out show, and everyone left with a smile! What a night!
Rick Poppa Dawg
The Brews and Blues weekend continued at the Blue Frog Studios in White Rock B.C. last night as Rick Poppa Dawg took to the stage. Once again the White Rock Beach Beer was flowing, as the trio was live streaming over the Blue Frog Facebook page.
Poppa Dawg has been a mainstay on the Canadian blues scene for almost 30 years now. Dawg has acted as a side man for blues men including Sonny Rhodes, Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne, Harpdog Brown and Sherman Doucette. He’s opened for such greats as John Mayall, Jimmy Vaughan, Colin James, Jeff Healey, Downchild Blues Band and many more. It was another great night to celebrate the Blues at the Blue Frog.
David Gogo
David Gogo kicked off the Brews and Blues weekend at the Blue Frog tonight with a sold out show! It was Blues, and some Rock and Roll at its finest. David was named the 2017 Maple Blues Awards, Guitarist of the year! He’s played along side Johnny Winter, Albert Collins and Bo Diddly. He’s opened for George Thorogood, ZZ Top, Buddy Guy and B.B. King. And he didn’t disappoint tonight! Another great night at the Blue Frog.

The Rock Rocks
Rock band Chilliwack rocked White Rock B.C. last night, part of a series of concerts sponsored by TD Bank, the City of White Rock, White Rock Business Improvement Assoc. ReMax and Blue Frog Studios. The concerts are FREE and will be held on Marine Drive Thursdays from 7:00 – 10:00pm, with two special Saturday shows: July 15th in the Five Corners shopping district of uptown White Rock, and the grand finale at the beach on August 19th. Over a thousand attended the outdoor concert last night. Bill Henderson and the band were amazing, and thankfully the weather co-operated to help make it a perfect Summer evening! Next up, the R&B All Stars, on July 15th at 5 Corners, a street party, part of the annual Bike Race, the Tour de White Rock.
Bob Robertson
We said goodbye to a great performer and friend on Friday. Bob Robertson, one half of the team that formed the CBC radio hit show, Double Exposure has passed away. The series was known for its dead-on impersonations of celebrities and politicians. The program ran for over 10 years. The other half of the Double Exposure team, Linda Cullen hosted an amazing farewell for her partner and husband, on stage at Bard on The Beach in Vancouver. It was a marvellous tribute to a great writer, actor, comedian, entertainer and all around wonderful guy. Friends and colleagues added stories that illustrated the great sense of humour Bob shared with the world. He is so missed!
