Red Robinson Day

It was quite a day at CISL Radio today, as friends and colleagues got together to celebrate not only Red’s 80th birthday, but to congratulate him on the proclamation of Red Robinson Day in the city of Vancouver.  So proclaimed by the Mayor of Vancouver.  The Hall of Fame Disc Jockey is still going strong, and hosted a live show with assorted guests in studio and on the phone.  All echoed the same sentiments….It’s been a great run, with no signs of slowing down for the Red Head!!  Congratulations Red!

Red Robinson Day 140

Oh Canada!

The Red Maple Leaf was proudly flying last night at the Blue Frog Studios in White Rock B.C. as the Great Canadian Songbook was unfurled.  Tiller’s Folly, along with Ken Lavigne and Diyet took to the stage to present a wonderful cross section of Canadian Music.  There was the music of Stomping’ Tom Connors, Anne Murray, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, and many more that made up a wonderful evening of Canadiana.  Kelly and Juanita of the Blue Frog, served up another winner, and next year it would be fun to see if the group was available for July 1st….Canada’s birthday!

Jim Curry

It was a Rocky Mountain High kind of night at the Blue Frog Studios in White Rock B.C. last night, as Jim Curry paid tribute to the life and music of John Denver.  With over 200 John Denver songs to choose from, it’s difficult to select music for an 80 minute set, but Jim managed to do just that.  Backed by his wife Ann, and a 4 piece band, Jim played all the hits, and managed to throw in a couple of Denver songs that reflected his passion for wilderness conservation.  2 Sold Out shows at the Blue Frog, and the John Denver fans went home happy!

Eagle Eyes

“Eagle Eyes” hit the stage at the Blue Frog Studios in White Rock, and played to 2 sold out houses last night, and there are 2 more sold out shows tonight.  What a great tribute to the music of the Eagles!  The band consists of Jack Gunderson on Bass and Vocals, Jason Dunajski guitar and vocals, Greg Murray on drums and vocals and Ray Harvey, guitar and vocals, and featured on a blistering spotlight on Joe Walsh.  The harmonies were right-on and the set selection had them dancing in the aisles.  a great night of Music!  Eagle Eyes
